It is definitely a great year for RPG’s. The year started strong with Persona 5, and now I’m 127 hours into Xenoblade 2, which is probably going to end up as my favorite JRPG of all time.

If you loved the original Xenoblade, you’re going adore Xenoblade 2. It’s fantastic. I’m currently over 70 hours into it, and it’s had its hooks in me unlike any other game this year. That includes Mario Odyssey and Zelda BotW.

That his opinion. One that the vast majority of JRPG fans adamantly disagree with. He’s more than welcome to his opinion, but he’s the minority regarding the entire Xenoblade series.

Xenoblade Chronicles X soundtrack was rage inducing. So there, 2 is not inferior in EVERY way

I agree with your take on this as well. But if memory serves, Jason clearly stated that he didn’t care for the first one...so he certainly wouldn’t like this one. At all. Why he didn’t like the first is an ENTIRELY different discussion that can be had on the page of his XC2 review.

Xenoblade 2 is easily the best JRPG of the year. Without question in my opinion. I loved Tales of Berseria, Persona 5, and Nier:Automata—but Xenoblade stands above them all by quite a large margin. Definitely play it if you haven’t.

The reactions of the industry to Xenoblade 2 confused me a bit at first: some reviews calling it an amazing JRPG experience (RPGamer), a lot of middling ones, and some saying its awful, as Schreier.
