Why is that amusing? Aluminum is a perfectly fine material - they make engines out of it. I have to imagine that any engineer worth their paycheck knows how to use it.

The car is worse off vs a truck. But most trucks don’t fare very well, and the trucks that do fare well are very modern. You could reasonably expect to die in an offset crash in a 2000-2010 era truck, and I’d rather be in a 2016 Corolla than a 1980s F series truck if I had to chose.

Yeah, and that’s why so many people are taking out 7+ year loans on their trucks. I work in an office building and the amount of new GM SUVs and 1/2 ton trucks in high trim levels is astonishing. Shockingly, the people who buy these 50k+ trucks to commute in are the same people who freak out when their expense

It’s not as common as the F-150, son.

You shouldn’t buy it because there’s no ‘f150 factor’. F150s are common and buying parts for them is easy.

The SV650 is a perfectly rational bike. Its zippy enough and cheap enough to be an excellent choice. I never loved it like my FJR or my 1982 Maxim, but I enjoyed riding the SV, I sold it for more than I paid for it after putting 2,500 miles on it, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Ownership of testicles aside, a CRF450L Rally (that’s the one with the Dakar fairing / aux. fuel right?) is worth at least as much as a testicle I think we can all agree on that.

Truth in advertising, huh?

Good for them though - getting people to pay 6k for a carb’d bike that makes ~25 horsepower.

Let me second that- I looked at a new FZ07. But it didn’t have ABS and I remember the FJR1300's ABS saving my bacon more than once. After I rationalized buying a bike without ABS, I realized I could get 8/10ths the bike in the form of a used SV650 for about 1/3rd the price.

Fair enough - but no bike in this price range / horsepower range has appreciably better suspension. It’s more than decent around town.

I completely spaced on that. But I think the V6 Camaro with the track upgrades is a serious contender. It seems way closer to ‘race spec’ than a Mustang. I should really check one out. I have a V8 car now and I enjoy it most of the time, but when I sit in traffic I just get so frustrated thinking of all friction

But they’re willing to put up money to be dumb, so of course a truck / SUV manufacturer will oblige them.

I was going to test drive a Mustang a while back when I got a dumb idea to get a yellow, manual car (still have the dumb idea but I don’t like the Mustang or the Fit and I can’t figure out any other Yellow manual cars for sale).

I live in Minnesota (fewer than 10 miles from the Polaris headquarters) and the trails around here / Wisconsin are littered with RZRs. The axles break, the differentials break, the things overheat, some of them have motor issues (but I can’t tell if those are just from neglectful owners or what).

For marketing, Neocons say that protecting South Korea, Japan, and the Chinese Provence of Taiwan means we need a massive ‘defense’ budget.

What does America get out of protecting S.E Asia from China? A cheap place to make clothes. It wouldn’t be such a cheap places to make clothes if they had to pay for their own security.

I have no idea why the Neocons want to extend protection for free. This is America, **** you pay me.

I’ll bite, what car do you drive?
