Ignorance is bliss right? Well, let’s examine your world view -

The Toyota S-FR is a RWD, 2100 lb concept car. And I’m all about that.

Then why do they do such a good job with SUVs? Then why is it that American companies like Alcoa, Apple, Google, Boeing, and Tesla invest in the future?

Don’t put words in my mouth. I said that they’re as sophisticated as jets. I am under no delusions about their reliability. On one hand, they do alright if you maintain them by the book, but they’re never going to be as trouble free as a basic Toyota.

I think suspension just matters less to American buyers than Asian and European buyers. The post WW2 roads in Europe and Japan were treacherous - mountain roads that didn’t have guard rails, streets blasted by bombs, and the companies were challenged to make suspensions that worked well with fully loaded cars or only

Now go read the news from 2008 and tell me what happened to Chrysler.

Not enough. And the market spoke in 2008 it was ready to cast Chrysler aside like a crusty sock.

You know, Honda benchmarked Toyota on reliability and BMW on driving dynamics in the 90s. It worked pretty well, I’d say.

If you base your purchase on an alignment of value and willingness to pay, then virtually no “enthusiast” car will pass that threshold, because they are by definition less practical and more expensive than a more basic car.

The Suburban shares parts with some of the best selling vehicles in America, the Camaro shares parts with poor-selling Cadillacs.

Perhaps there’s a higher marginal cost for a Suburban, but the raw materials are cheap. And amortizing the parts, processes, and machinery across the high volume trucks and SUVs really pays off.

Reality? You mean the reality where politicians run on the platform of reigning in police because you can’t watch a week of nightly news without seeing some jack booted thug violate a constituational right and get rewarded with paid vacation? Meanwhile Hillary gets to send and recieve classified information on her

It’s not that they don’t make money at light RWD cars, it’s that they make more money selling loaded SUVs to baby boomers. A Camaro SS probably costs more to make than a Suburban, but the Suburban probably sells for twice as much. It’s a pretty simple decision for GM to make, yeah?

Justifying government scrutiny on the basis of popular approval is a slippery slope and there are boundaries of what’s permissible. If a majority people believed that guns should be banned and anyone in possession of a gun should be summarily executed, would you support it because it’s the will of the people?

Law enforcement shouldn’t be done on a ‘guilt by association’ basis. But if it is - it should be equally applied.

The STi is different though - it’s actually really zippy car. And it lives in a segment where you can’t really get a faster car that’s more reliable for less money (in b4 people tell me that a tuned ecoboost mustang on slicks does a fast 0-60) but I mean really truly fast - like good acceleration, strong brakes, and

Perhaps we can’t overcome the desire to mayhem with age, but you can certainly scare yourself out of it. When I was younger, I had a serious need for speed. Then I got into bikes. And then I rented my buddy’s Hayabusa while he was out on deployment. I took it to the track, I took it to some street races, and I took it

I wouldn’t mind it, but I wouldn’t pay any extra for it (though I wouldn’t pay any less).

I stand corrected. I thought the GS4* shared the brake caliper with the LS4* (at least the 1998-2006 LSs).
