And even if we’re talking about corners, an alright rider will be appreciably faster than the way 99.5% of people usually take a corner. And an alright rider would probably be faster than 95% of drivers who were trying to take a corner as fast as they felt comfortable taking it.

The issue isn’t tracking straight - it’s having the car float over the imperfections. Generally BMW has really great suspension calibrations and they’re about as smooth as can be. But if they had fatter tires on there, the cars would be smoother still.

God bless you. God bless full size SUVs. And God bless big sidewall tires.

Why did white wall tires go away? :(

But why do modern chrome rims have to be so big?! Can you imagine how nice those things would ride with big fat tires? My Grandpa’s Tahoe has 235/75R15s on it and that thing is unperturbed.

Excellent read thank you! The Citroen DS is perhaps an object of fantasy all its own. It sounds perfect. But I wonder if a modern Lexus LS is ‘good enough’ all while being must faster and more lexus like than a 1950s french car could ever be

Small blocks in Toyotas are... interesting.

this reminded me of a pretty good joke -

That’s a good looking dash!

Yeah, buy two C43 AMGs and save $14,000.

How many divorces have you had?

Thank you tremendously for putting the ‘busa on here.

I think Fleets use American cars because people like you work with vehicle fleets and the American manufacturers offer fantastic wholesale prices. I know for a fact that my local airport commission gets their F-250s for about 26k. Good luck getting a Toyota or Honda for that much under sticker.

GM and Fiat/Chrysler need to get to 2016 where Ford and Honda and Toyota make trucks that go 100k miles without an issue.

You win again Kotton. I guess I’ll never be able to match wits with the proud owner of a Vizio Tv :(

And rust has taken out all the 90s trucks. :(

It’s easier to park, it’s quite a big step up in NVH (or at least it was compared to trucks circa 2006) and the reliability of Chevy, GMC, and Dodge leaves something to be desired.

I’m not one to argue against sincerely held preferences.

Are you waiting to get that ICBM so you finally own something fast enough to race my Yamaha?

By the time you get 4 door cabs and 4x4 drive, the half tons cost ~35k and the Colorado costs ~32k. The Ridgeline will be price competitive, they hold their value relatively well and they’re dead simple to keep running.
