It was very much an intro to new audiences episode, so the plot itself was only so-so. Clearly most of the attention was devoted to delivering information and character without resorting to an actual exposition dump.

Newbie! The Doctor started out with three companions, and has had that again a ton of times. I was particularly fond of the Nyssa/Teagan/a dude line up.
