I don’t see how recording the whole thing as a single audio file would be a problem. I usually split large audio files using ffmpeg, a text file with start and stop times (and may include metadata here), and good ol’ bash scripting.

Aluminum? Sure aluminum will take the oxygen from water leaving hydrogen, but it oxidizes like a mother forming that skin around the metal thus inhibiting the process.
