@Toastie: Actually, the Nazis supposedly thought of that exact idea.

@Toastie: Orbit in a spot exposed to sunlight, use mirror to bounce light through ship's lens for projection. I made a diagram...

This was beautiful, but I thought he was going to use the sun as the lightsource and the ship would be a lens of sorts. Seems like a missed opportunity (and would have been a clever reference to old carbon-arc projectors!), but it's still very cool.

@x Dave Lister x: Because tv/movies are products, not artistic exercises or statements. As awesome as this is, it's not really something that would likely appeal to a wide audience.

@corpore-metal: Yeah, they've been using pretty much the same "Wheel-O-Innovation" to select cover ideas for 90+ years.

They even had Batman's and TRON's cycles beat by decades!

@OutlawDominus: Yeah - just wait til you're surrounded by a bunch of tigers! Then you'll be singing a different tune.

@Edix: The same images on his blog are easily large enough for wallpaper.

@mordicai: If they ever made a Virga movie, these would definitely be within the low-tech realm of machines from those stories. But as with most stories and art I love, I'd rather *not* see Hollywood screw up my personal vision of those worlds.

The lament of the lazy science student: A giant impact destroyed my homework!

@Log1c: Actually, He was _aiming_ for Favre, but the tv listings got the times screwed up.

Someone here recently pointed out that if a question can be answered with a one-word "no", there is no need to rtfa.

@Nivenus: Sir, I say to you: Your carefully balanced and reasoned thought has NO place on the internets! Good day to you, sir!

@chakrabs: If no alcohol is served, I guess they won't be getting any help taking the stands apart from the fans....
