I think the cosplayer is just using it cuz he had no other props and may have previously cosplayed as the Gundam.

I watched it while commenting with other viewers on skype, we weren't impressed, for starters we were able to predict everything since it was so cliched. Second, the characters aren't interesting. Third, IT'S CLICHE.
