Nevermind. I know what you're talking about. Those old Hostess ads in which Batman or Superman would go through a whole little mini-adventure just to hand out some Twinkies or Ho-Hos in the last panel. Good nostalgia.

A timing issue
The Man Who Grew His Beard piques my interest, but Amazon says it isn't scheduled for release until October. Of course that could be BS and I'll see it in a bookstore tonight, but if it really is that far off wouldn't it be better to wait on the review? By October I'll have forgotten it.

And then suddenly, Voldemort!

You live in Australia? Or New Zealand? I feel no sympathy for you. Only envy. But if it's New Guinea or South Africa or Paraguay, ok, I'm sorry.

oh, shiiiiiiit…
H.R Pufnstuf is on Netflix streaming. There goes the weekend.
BTW, in that first paragraph you use the term "take advantage" and make it sound like there was something sleazy or underhanded about the Kroft's career. Is there? (And I don't count "spicy" puppets as sleazy. That sounds pretty cool.)

Please
stop reviewing reissues, or at least don't make them the lead review. This got me all excited that there was a new AoL album just to let me down. Like that time you posted "David Bowie A" but it turned out just to be the reissue of Station To Station.

And I'm picturing Iggy getting poked in the eye by Moe.

That's a good idea. Now I'm inspired. And I agree, BTW, with all that the misanthrope says. Bad Moore (and Black Dossier is not even bad Moore. Lost Girls is.) is still better than 90% of all mainstream comics. But I was disappointed because Moore is obviously capable of much better. Black Dossier is sloppy.

I've bought it, but so far I haven't been able to bring myself to read past page one. After all, until I read it I can't be totally disappointed like I was after The Black Dossier. Then again, 1910 was better than Black Dossier, so maybe there will be an upward trend.

Re: Joe Hill
Asking as someone who thinks Locke & Key is just about the best thing going, can anybody tell me if I should make an effort to be reading Joe Hill's "The Cape", too?

Wait, aren't you the guy who was arguing that they are terrible in the other interview?

phhht. Yer all nuts. Neville's favorite Beatles song is "Rain". I just feel this is right. Also, best thing about HPATDH2 is the inclusion, brief though it is, of Neville/Luna romance. Everyone in the world who reads the books EXCEPT J.K Rowling thought they were an obvious match. (This, BTW, is a perfect example of

I assume
all superhero movies will be both
A) Disappointing and
B) Awesome.
Therefore they all have a crucial Awesome/Disappointing ratio which can be used to judge them. Spiderman and Spiderman 2 ratios=2, maybe 3. Iron Man=2. Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer=1. Green Hornet=0.2. Etc. This sounds like it has

Coincidence?
A few years from now, I'm going to have completely confused this movie with "Melancholia". I'll be like "Is that the one where the mopey people get hit by the other planet and all die, or where they don't?" In fact I may already be getting confused. Don't movie people ever get together and plan shit so

Why can't they just have two guys be the same superhero? That way they can work shifts. If they had three guys they could do eight hour shifts. That way everyone could get a decent night's sleep and some downtime. Then they could trade notes when they went on and off duty. I know that's a stupid idea, but has anybody

Couldn't agree more about "Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader". I had high hopes for those two issues and it turned out to read like something Gaiman crapped out in about twenty minutes. It really dampened my enthusiasm for the whole new Batman thing.

Dobby
Conflating Dobby with the egregious Jar Jar should earn somebody a quick smack upside the head. Yes, they could have done a better job with not making Dobby so silly early in Chamber of Secrets (the movie), but ultimately he was a crucial character with a real personality.

This whole question is fairly silly because, in practice, none of it has to do with some kind of ultimate justice. You comp somebody to retain goodwill and avert a scene. Whether you comp somebody food or a free pass or whatever depends on how important those things are to your business at the moment, not on the

Street Hassle, New Sensations
Or, to put it more clearly, STREET HASSLE, NEW SENSATIONS!! Furthermore, ECSTACY!

How does this KEEP from being a comedy? Also, justify that B+ after all you made are negative comments.
