I've read that gerrymandering isn't without its risks. Apparently it creates a load of marginal Republican districts, instead of fewer very solid ones. It's a tactic that kind of relies on a run-of-the-mill leader. If that's true, then its a strategy that could hugely backfire. Does anyone know more?

The thing about American politics, and probably politics in general, is that an uncomfortably huge amount of the system relies on the person leading the system being decent.
