Well… I guess there is no one who can unite and inspire a powerful progressive resistance like Donald Trump.

I was reading something recently how a fairly disturbing about of the White House is based upon the President having a little bit of decency. Like, he can kind of do what he wants, and he'll only be stopped when (if) it's politically damaging.

One thing about the US political system I find *incredibly* uncool is district redrawing is done by state legislators. How is it not incredibly illegal to gerrymander? It's basically the antithesis of a functioning democracy. Can't believe that shit is just accepted as part of the game.

Can people do postal votes, or is that on a state level?

I dunno about Australian's having the same kind of libertarian streak. We get upset about legitimate screw ups, but generally speaking I think we're pretty happy to have the Government looking after things like health care and education, because they generally do a pretty good job. It's just the idiotic ideology of

I dunno. Parts of the US lead the world in ideas. It's clearly a deeply flawed place, but it's done a lot of good, too. Hopefully Trump is just a bizarre aberration.

Absolutely. I've been to the US twice (once backpacking around the North East, South and California; second time just to NY), and the thing that really struck me about it was how incredibly diverse it is in opinion. It's sort of amazing it actually works as well as it does, given the spectrum of beliefs.

Maybe it's because I'm not American so I'm not exposed to anti-Obama stuff, or even seen first hand examples of where he has stuffed up, but that man's character seems utterly invincible. He's clearly not perfect, but he understood how to lead in the sense that he tried to lead for everyone, and he maintained the

Fun fact - there is a former asbestos mining town in Western Australia called Wittenoom. A lot of people died, obviously, and the state Government closed it down to the point where it completely shut off all Government services, removed it from the maps, and even painted over highway signs. Yet there are still a

Stephen King really needs to write about this place.

The ticket says "the moon" but the auto-pilot is set for "the sun".

How great would an actual Cooper Seydoux porn be though?

Why do trailers now have really short trailers in front of them?

Given that Donald Trump is President and Casey Affleck won Best Actor, Cosby's legal defense could probably just shrug and say "Yeah, but he's famous". Given what has happened, why wouldn't it work?

Is that a Brady Bunch Movie reference?

*looks around, picks up clod of dirt*

From African war lords to sexual abusers, diamonds really bring out the best in people.

"I think PricewaterhouseCoopers uses it as kind of a bonus sort of thing, and I think they rotate through whoever did a good job that year."

"I don't care, mind you, but its dangerous to start believing in your own spin."

Apparently one of the big strategies that could really help the Democrats in 2018 and 2020 is the wealthy, moderate Republicans in places like Orange County. They vote Republican because it benefits them to (they're mega rich), but they're either fairly socially progressive or at least don't actively want to make life
