So proud of my alma mater.

I used to angry cry, which would of course just make me angrier and cry harder. In my old age I have basically learned to hold it in like a champ when I’m at work - I am a Dr. in the ER and have to tell people their family is dying or died fairly regularly. I occasionally lose it when they remind me of my own family

Fun fact: we still trephinate finger (or toe) nails for subungal hematomas (i.e. bleeding under your nail that hurts really badly until you let the blood out.) You just poke a little hole in the nail to let out the trapped blood. Same idea but much tinier and less problematic.

It’s definitely NOT true that you’d be treated differently if you’re a donor. Your doctors probably wouldn’t even know either way until you we’re beyond any chance of resuscitation.

No doctors want to deny patients care, but in the case of transplanted organs there is a limited quantity and more patients who need them than can receive them, so it’s a matter or arithmetic - if a patient receives a new liver, somebody else died because they didn’t get that liver. And if the recipient drinks alcohol

I had the exact same question - I’m a physician and would NEVER agree to sign anything like this. So freaking creepy.

I felt the same way before I met my absolutely amazing fiancé online. It’s now 4yrs later and he’s the best, and I can’t believe my luck. But with or without him I truly think I would’ve been fine (and you will too.) Just keep trekking, and don’t define your life success by anything external to yourself.

And there is serious concern than if you accept the frequent flier miles then you are accepting payment for your services and therefore are forfeiting your claim to legal protection under Good Samaritan laws and can be sued. (I am an ER doc and seem to attract medical emergencies to my flights - I’ve never accepted

The video is actually super convincing that they kicked her off to give somebody else her seat - he sits down IMMEDIATELY after she stands up and was standing there waiting to sit down the whole time as they’re kicking her off. I was about to buy a plane ticket today and just spent $50 more to fly Southwest instead of

This conversation is super interesting to me because I’m about to get married with the opposite situation you’re describing. We both work full time but I make a lot more $$ (though he spends almost nothing - I already buy most of his clothes because he’s happy to wear tshirts with holes in them out to dinner as a

Take Benadryl for the itching - hopefully that plus the permethrin should be enough.

Did you use the permethrin cream? That’s the important part - the steroids may make the inflammation go away faster, but if the bugs stop biting you (because you killed them with permethrin), then you’ll feel better with or without the steroids. Run it by your doc, but you should be fine with just the permethrin.

As somebody who works in a similarly hierarchical field, I think you made the mistake of being overly casual with your more senior colleagues. It sounds like you may’ve misinterpreted their treating you as an equal (which they 100% should, because you are a human being) with your being their professional equal (which

We adopted a shelter dog today from the SPCA, and she is beautiful and so good tempered, and I'm totally in love! Go for it!!

You do need to do residency to be board certified, even as a GP (requires a 3 year residency). Specialists either do a longer residency or a fellowship after completing the 3. Some vets also do residencies! (But not all) So much to learn for either job!

I never brush. I've found it takes multiple wash cycles for my hair to recover from being brushed. Totally weird but true. I stopped years ago and my curls are way nicer for it.

I've never tried the hair oil before and am super excited to try on my dry-ish ringlet-curly hair. I splurged and bought a (tiny) bottle of that Moroccan oil. Anybody have any tips on applying the oil? I normally use Ouidad products, which I love, but I can always use some more moisture.
