I can't imagine any answer other than Transmetropolitan. The only thing we didn't see was Joseph Heller actually winning the thing.
Looking at the past success stories: Danny Elfman, Clint Mansell, Trent Reznor, Mark Motherbaugh…can't say I see much of a pattern there. I think I'll go with the man with the deepest knowledge of pop music: A.C. Newman.
And hey, the guy from Pop Will Eat Itself might do a passable job of it.
