Twice. My 1989 Sunbird had the hood fly up on the interstate. Insurance totalled it, I bought it back and fixed it up for about $300 (windshield, seats, sunroof, hood and some trim pieces) and drove it for another year or so before the transmission died and I traded it in.

I think Shift 2 Unleashed has been one of the most realistic racing games in recent years.
