Director: “Now we can’t make Boimler’s hair too purple, that might make things too cartoony.”
If you’re an old-school Star Trek fan and you haven’t watched SNW, you are truly depriving yourself of something amazing.
SNW nails the feel of the best of Star Trek, it’s optimistic with loads of allegory and they remembered to turn on the lights while filming. Plus, it’s episodic (with continuing subplots) and not a ten-hour movie broken up.

I’d argue from a storytelling perspective they’ve invoked Janeway’s name too many times for her to NOT show up.
Terry Matalas has talked about his idea for a “Next Next Generation” spinoff with Seven, Sidney LaForge, Jack, etc. Everyone assumed it would be set on the Titan, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Titan is sacrificed in the finale and the Enterprise-D becomes the Federation flagship again (it’s old, but Starfleet…
FOR REAL! Does that woman age?
