Growing up reading World’s Finest comics and Justice League all the time, I just don’t get this concept. If Superman is established enough to build statues, then why all the hate and trepidation, especially since Batman never had a great reputation as being a hero. I just can’t buy in to the whole premise here.

You had me until the last paragraph. Cole's Mom was afraid of the 12 Monkey's and Olivia is helping create them so 2 different people likely. One of the mothers of those babies.. maybe? A time traveler herself? I would think likely.
