Did someone really think this clearly 3D game in a 2D perspective wasn’t actually 3D for some reason? Like, I know with Shovel Knight, the fact it looked similar to a NES game, you wouldn’t expect it to be a in a 3D engine, but most games these days are a built in a 3D engine...but Metroid Dread? Its so obviously 3D,

the point they are trying to make is they look WORSE now. Doesn’t matter if the originals looks “crap” or not in your opinion

If you are stuck in a room with nothing else to do...shoot some walls? Its not rocket science. Do people not videogame a lot or something?

Also not posted in the article for some misleading reason:

Person was sequence breaking (getting into areas he wasn’t supposed to via tricks/glitches) and got stuck. A real soft

Yeah i feel the article is very misleading with these clips, and even the word “soft lock” to describe being... lost in a videogame? its weird

Also, for some reason the article has posted clips of people sequence breaking and getting stuck, and acting like its a normal gameplay thing. Then goes on to talk about players simply being lost in the game.

what the article describes isn’t a softlock, its simply people being lost and needing to try harder to find out where to go. I dont know why people are using that term. Soft lock is mostly referred when the game is locked up (ie controls do not respond, you can’t move, etc), but continues to run as if nothing is

Have people not ever played ANY game in the “Metroidvania” genre before? I’m very confused, Dread isn’t “new” in this regard. Games have been doing this since the 80's. Not to mention, Dread even gives you an ability to see hidden blocks later on and has a much more detailed map than most in the genre.

Good, Denuvo didn’t do anything but hurt paying customers. Games were pirated just fine as far as I could tell

Did you see the trailer? Its not an HD port, they have different models, different lighting, different control schemes, new textures, etc.

HD ports are nearly the same game, maybe with the textures touched up a bit (see PS2 remasters on PS3)

Its not the same.

Most of those were just HD ports (previous term for “Remaster”), and not remakes/makeovers (which have now been mistakenly labeled “Remaster” since the COD remake, i’ll never understand why the industry did this)

I’m with you on that one, the article isn’t very good at covering that part on how to actually make a back up of your game, which makes it mostly legal-ish. And its not easy, at all. Kotaku doesn’t actually care about you know, facts and information

However, that said, downloading a game you already bought... i’d

People keep whining about piracy, when emulation doesn’t equal piracy.

Little guy Nintendo, am I right? lol (I know Mercury Stream helped develop, but they aren’t little either (160+ employees))

Also, you can emulate and not pirate, as many others have pointed out.

Non-commercial emulators run games way better than most official emulators, actually

There are plenty of “commercial” emulators (like the ones Nintendo uses for VC and NSO), but saying the non-commercial ones are crap is just false. Nintendo’s suck compared to some of the amazing efforts by the emulation community, for example

Uh, site hasn’t been great for probably close to 6 or 7 years, probably longer, where have you been? At least this is game related

100% agree here, there are plenty of examples of tracked/chip music that sound amazing. Nintendo’s 1st party “bad sounding MIDI” quality stuff they used in the GameCube was was terrible even compared to their 1st party stuff on N64/SNES which was still not as great as some 2nd/3rd party OSTs on the same platforms. If

Not true, I remember plenty of unofficial and unauthorized guides that had all sorts of character artwork in them. Versus Books “The Completely Unauthorized FFVII Ultimate Guide” even came with a great poster.

Small correction here, you could transfer your WiiWare/Virtual Console games (eShop wasn’t a thing on Wii) to Wii U without any fees. The upgrade fee was for a few Wii U versions of Virtual Console games you could upgrade them to the Wii U version

Not spending $70 now and not even getting something physical out of . Also not spending $70 because physical I can find cheaper deals more often. Digital is nice and all, but the moment they stop supporting physical is the moment I just stick to PC (drm free if possible, or at least backed up into any media i choose,
