@dsh: Qantas actually allowed John Travolta to fly a flight for them. Don't know the details. Do know he's an amazing pilot who is certified on the plane they allowed him to fly. But still.

@balls187: My boards are cupped, and water pools along them. Pressure washing and re-staining won't help that. The boards need to be replaced, or, as this suggests, flipped.

@Enzer Milliard: I think what you're talking about only applies to the "beams" of the deck, and not the surface boards of the deck. Crowning is what I think you're thinking of. Crown up, so that when weight is applied to the board, it will go straight.

"Its the great big book of everything with everything inside

@DevourerKwi: The installer does this, and Ubuntu already is a portable OS. I don't see what this does for you, except maybe allow you to make the USB drive without having to boot to the live CD.

People don't do it as much as they used to, and it bothers me a little, even though I'm just as guilty as the next person of not offering the hand. When offered, I always shake, nice and firm, but not too hard, and stand if I'm sitting.

@Brad N.: I was thinking the same thing. You'd have to have a handle on that to make it good for long shots. For short little things, it would be good as is, but could you imagine a 20 minute video of a graduation party or something?

When you apply for a job, they ask for previous employment information. In this day and age, all you'll get out of a previous employee is two things. 1) Confirmation of employment with hire and (if appropriate) termination dates, and 2) Salary information. In other words, if an interviewer is interested in you

A Lifehacker who's lost their job due to the down turn in the economy.

I think this is what they refer to as a "next-next" on Hannah Montana. :)

I have a Cannon PowerShot A2000IS. I think I remember it being on that CHDK (check disk!) might, at some future time, be written for. Until then, I'm suck with the Macro feature on my camera, which really isn't all that bad.

A description of each one would be nice. Otherwise you're just looking at a list of blue words.

@Avian00: Here's my 2Cents, which might not even be worth that much. I liken these things to the radio. We all know that (in the US) it's perfectly legal to record stuff off the radio for later playback and personal use. Pandora's Box used to save the files that were sent to you to listen to on Pandora. You actually

I had a friend who took his monthly subscription to Sky and Telescope (or something like that) and took the first letter he saw on first page, followed by the first number he saw on the second page, followed by the first letter on the third, and so on.

I want two things from my Google Apps email:

Way to go LH and the gang!

I was living in a place in Syracuse, NY. The property manager of the complex I was in gave me the new lease with a rent increase (I don't remember how much). I started looking in the paper for other places, just out of curiosity. Turns out that they had vacancies in the complex for apartments just like mine, and

When you purchase a seat on a plane, you're buying the room that makes up from the fully reclined position of your seat to the fully reclined position of the seat in front of you, if there is one. If you don't like it when someone reclines, sit in the front seat. Don't steal my space.
