I can’t tell if this is exactly was Steinem was saying or the exact opposite of what she was saying...

i feel like i’m hallucinating

Imagine actually enjoying Morning Joe

As Jeb Lund wrote in Rolling Stone last week:

??? I believe women (everywhere) should be equal, have equal access to resources, and equal opportunity, making me a feminist. war very much limits such rights. and i think that leaders who are female should also be accountable for decisions they make that endanger other people, including women, an important point as

i do, actually. it’s not like you can read my fb feed or anything, but there is a lot there on drone strikes and bellicose foreign policy decisions that are detrimental to well, everyone. i have been ardently anti-war since i could talk (in addition to other things that relate to real equality and and to u.s. military

and here’s another piece, written by a feminist, about why war is a feminist issue and why it is important to consider the affects of u.s. military imperialism on women abroad:

i am not sure why you would think my encouragement of a more intersectional feminism would be “trolling.” also, i am talking about “domestically” in terms of u.s. vs. the rest of the world, not the household.

i would argue that the question “which women” is pretty significant here. perhaps they have done that to a large degree domestically speaking (though even that is worth some examination), but i am sure women in countries torn apart by wars, sanctions, and political instability that both clinton and albright supported

This definitely exemplifies the split between kind of the “old guard” feminism and “new wave” feminism. Because of the work people like Steinem and Albright have done and the progress made because of it, women today have the luxury of not necessarily needing to prioritize “women’s issues” above larger ones. It must be

“We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than Hiroshima. And—and you know, is the price worth it?” - Reporter Lesley Stahl

Someone send this to the republican candidates that are excluded from the next debate!

Exactly. Nice (vaguely denigrating) headline, but, uh, not one is actually wearing a pantsuit.

Shhhhh! Didn’t you know it’s verboten to point out that POC actually have their own minds and own opinions and don’t just line up behind Hillary because rich white women say they should?

Also interesting: Obama’s been the actual President who irl called for the military actions to which that piece refers.

I wish I could make this not grey.

White feminist here; I’ve been labelled a sexist more this past month than the rest of my life combined because I support Sanders. There are plenty of legitimate feminist arguments to be made against Clinton’s past and intended policies, but they seem to be cancelled out in some people’s minds because she’s a woman.

The term is so “1970s”. They really need to just call them “suits”.

Ha, I was wondering the same thing. When I do this I think of myself as wearing a blazer. I thought a pantsuit is a matching set. Oh God have I been a caricature of modern feminism wearing snazzy pantsuits this whole time?!

No. This is a pantsuit.
