Does this add anything we didn’t already know? We knew Exxon had Russian operations. It’s not uncommon for global companies to set up wholly owned subsidiaries in which to segregate foreign operations, and list the parent company’s executives as executives of the subsidiary. The headline is misleading. Exxon Neftegas

Sounds like your little sister and her fiancé have a lifetime of wedded bliss ahead of them.

Did they issue a press release or anything regarding this? Because it sounds like the type of thing that circulates on Facebook.

  • Actually, he isn’t incorrect with respect to deportation numbers. The President’s deportation numbers only seem higher than with previous administrations because voluntary departures and exposures removals are now counted as deportations, whereas they were previously in their own category. As for undocumented

There are a lot of places (e.g. sanctuary cities) where local law enforcement agencies don’t cooperate (either through refusal or ineptitude) with ICE. So an undocumented immigrant gets convicted of something, but no one ever calls ICE. Or ICE becomes aware of an undocumented immigrant serving time, lodges a detainer

They have not actually broken any criminal laws by coming here, except for those who were previously deported and came back. The immigration enforcement system is a civil regulatory regime, hence the lower standard of due process.

ICE attorney here. This is my take:

So the guy is an asshole, but the headline is misleading. The doctor is suing for, in addition to property damage claims, compensation for her lost employment for three years. His lawyer is arguing that she had a “duty to mitigate her damages” (a tort law term or art) from lost employment/business by seeking alternate

This doesn’t sound quite right. Though not a gun violation, it would almost certainly be assault or threatening, depending on your state. Even if not against the law, a cop would almost certainly confront you and shoot you if you didn’t comply, white or black (though probably much quicker if black).

No, but neither would a black person. Catastrophe Management Solutions doesn’t sound like a co-op.

“Last year I was seated next to a father with his four-year-old, who he had lied and said was two (he wasn’t fooling anyone) so he didn’t have to buy her a seat.”

As an illustration of how bullshit Instagram photos can be, if you zoom in on their sunglasses, you’ll see that the cruise ship they’re on looks like overcrowded tourist hell.

So you’re saying it’s not the “#bestplaceever”?

Regardless of your feelings on this policy, some of this is just impossible without a major change to the law. Immigration law allows for certain people here illegally to gain status (e.g. Asylum and Cancellation of Removal), so even with unlimited resources and no logistical difficulties, you can’t just deport all 11

I’m calling bullshit on every commenter who says they’re boycotting Cinemark. You’ll forget about this within a year or the next new release you’ve been dying to see, just like everyone else.

Also, to add to this, it’s probably the fair outcome right? I mean parents shouldn’t be held accountable for the intentional actions of their children where they have no direct involvement, especially if the child is near the age of majority. Or should every teenage criminal’s mother be on the hook?

“Any tort lawyers know if she can sue his parents for his actions?”

Quoting the story:

If you do finish the article you’ll find that the school marshaled considerable resources to distance itself from the affair (e.g. hiring a communications firm), and did not contribute to his defense. Alumni however did; why they would is beyond me.
