I've been interested in this topic for a decade. I have thus far been unable to find solid research on the expected per-capita use of all materials (by material) by the then-11-or-so billion people. This factor will have a fundamental impact on the nature of that future.

There's a terrific article on this subject in the December 23, 2013 issue of The New Yorker magazine, The Intelligent Plant by Michael Pollan. It's hilarious that two groups of scientists are pretty much in agreement on the facts but are vigorously debating what to call/name those facts. One group, calls it plant

I tried to come up with a name for a Lucas spinoff, kind of like Better Call Saul. The problem is that only words that rhyme well with Lucas are mucous, mucus, and Chukkas.

the BBC's Bletchley Circle is better drama but not as good with the history as Manhattan. a little too much murder and sex, in what was a serious activity. spying should feature more.

There's all a master plan to this, by the way. He sits back and he watches it all collapse.

Thank you for the thoughtful analysis. I take your points about Fincher and HBO and Utopia's uniquely magnificent visual style. And, for what it's worth, I was as taken with Adeel Akhtar and Neil Maskell as with Fiona O'Shaughnessy. I hope you are right and I'm just being pessimistic.
