I wouldn’t go blaming streaming and Netflix for the failure of independent theaters and the struggles even the chains are having. I’m having a really hard time giving a single damn about movie theaters. The world is a very different place than it was in the 1940s (duh). With the option of viewing at home with an experience that rivals that of a theater without the insane prices prices, why would anyone even bother?
Being an insider to the industry, I’d say 2 years from launch is pretty close to production. I agree with you though, about trying to grab headlines, but I don’t think it went the way Tesla or Musk wanted:
