No, but they are better in multiple ways. (Ergonomically the NES controller has not aged well). They work on more than just NES games, etc.

Like Krang said, its only using the connector port, i dont think this thing has any of the wireless built in. At least they didn’t advertise anything like that. It would increase its cost for little reason

I guess you could use an HDMI & USB extender to bring the miniNES closer to YOU (so you can also use the reset button) but.. its a bit backwards of a solution

Most of us already have the Classic Controller/Pro (Wii) or Pro Controller (U)... I think Nintendo missed a HUGE opportunity not making these USB (and working on both Wii U w/o the need of a Wiimote and of course, PC). Im guessing they choose something besides USB to discourage PC use... blah
