lolz. WOC, esp Black women, have been writing books and articles about this issue for decades and decades.

So – I’m a little busy right now to do a truly comprehensive list without getting a check for it – especially since I’d essentially be doing the author’s work – but would it not have been useful to at least list *some* of the most prominent current women whose work has been co-opted and whitewashed and erased?

The biggest obstacle of all is that we white women have to admit that we still benefit from racist patriarchal structures, which is why we’re eerily silent when it comes to issues that predominantly affect minority women. We can’t get men to admit it either so I’m not sure there’s much hope here.

Absolutely. And it’s all shielded with an almost inarguable, impenetrable “this is for the good of my children, it’s not about race” (horseshit) idea, at least nowadays.

Seriously. This article’s old (and discusses an extreme response to white women fragility) but it’s stayed with me since I read it:

Er, “school quality”.

Emphasis on “historical driving forces of white nationalism”. I’ve seen plenty of white nationalist propaganda that prominently feature still images of Taylor Swift, Sansa Stark or some other random white woman. It can’t be understated how the idea white female purity/fragility is perhaps the most potent fuel for

I don’t have time to read this right now but i suggest listening to “the problem we all live with” from this american life. It shows white women still defending segregation under the guise of safety.

This is so important, and provides a helpful lens into understanding the 53% today, and the historical driving forces of white nationalism. Thank you!

I said this when it all first came out.

that’s your takeaway from this article?

What are we to do about Kesha not actually knowing how to sing tho? I’m fine to ignore it just curious what others think.

i can’t help but think that Russell Westbrook answers the question “what if Steve Smith had played basketball instead of football?”

I think this is good fun beef. It helps that Westbrook is a crazy person.

Yo for real though, while I don’t disagree with the topic of this article, did anyone else notice this

After watching Cardi B in that “Fire & Fury” skit, I have nothing for love for her.

Bruno Mars is a great entertainer. His songs are wonderful jams at weddings and bar mitzvahs. It’s the funky negritude without all the...ahem...issues that other artists seem to insist on peppering their work with. This is why he will continue to dominate these awards.

Kendrick should have won AOTY. Do the Grammy committee not like him? I don’t get this snub at all.

Give Bruno Song, that’s fine. “That’s What I Like” bangs. But Bruno had the worst entry in both Record and Album. Grammys gonna Grammy!
