Actually, those two scenes were never intended to be in the film. The director told the two actors beforehand that he wanted to shoot those scenes only for the trailer to throw off audiences so the surprise would hit harder, and they were on board with it! 

It’s no worse than what was done in the Deadpool 2 trailer, showing X-Force members actually fighting enemies (Shatterstar, especially). But, surprise! Not what happened at all. Those scenes were shot completely as a red herring.

You know, I didn’t even think of that!
