I like the game and I liked Dunkey’s take. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way though was him joking that the cast is bad, in part, because they’re not famous.

It’s super duper top secret stuff so he can’t release those records.

This is such a stupid fucking line of non-reasoning. What makes it worse is that people believe this. They cannot fathom continuing to chase money when they have more than any non-super villain would possibly want, so why would a rich person?

How to you to get to be obscenely wealthy? By continuing to accrue more money

It’s fine.

FWIW, I don’t think you’re angry but that the general reception is.

The original trilogy constrained you in a lot of ways which avoided a lot of the UI problems of this entry. ME:A gives you more freedom than you’ve ever had. You’re not stuck with a single class which means now the game has to figure out a way to give

I’m getting a sense of internet rage against ME:A.

A lot of the criticisms are fair but the vitriol isn’t warranted. I’m maybe a dozen hours in and I’ll agree it doesn’t live up to its predecessors. I’d say the story, acting, art and animation are all on par with with the original trilogy which is damning in the sense that there was no growth in those areas.

No restrictions? That’s possibly crazier than being able to use space magic. IRL, while some have fluid sexual orientations, most seem to have relatively rigid orientations. Frankly, I wouldn’t find the diverse group on the Tempest to all have similar sexual interests or liberties but YMMV I suppose.

Where neoliberals, conservatives, and corporatists alike all saw globalization as an unalloyed good because of its benefits to the balance sheet, they failed to factor in the cost to Americans whose jobs were destroyed by the march of progress. What we should have been doing from the beginning was to set aside a fair

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the thirty thousand emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily. By our press. Let’s see if that happens. That’ll be next.”

I’ve made that mistake in every ME game. I’m not stopping now (I didn’t last night). However, at least on the Xbox, the indication of where in the codex tree there’s a new or updated entry seems to be bugged which makes things unnecessarily painful. Also, there’s that point early on in every Mass Effect game where the

Given the slow cadence of Elcor speech, their rendition of Hamlet takes 14 hours. Which is honestly how long most Hamlet plays seem to take.

Harassing women has always been a core component of “Gamer Gate”. The initial “controversy” that kicked things off was the incorrect allegation that a female game developer (Zoe Quinn) slept her way to a better review from a professional game critic (at-the-time Kotaku’s Nathan Grayson).

I wrapped up Sunset Overdrive not too long ago. It has a much more frantic pace to the gameplay than what I’m accustomed to in open world games. I was initially put off by how the game practically requires you to constantly keep moving but it eventually won me over with its a goofy self-aware tone, an extremely bright

What’s interesting to me is that the Battlefield series and Mass Effect both use the Frostbite engine. Yet, the facial animation in Battlefield has been outstanding since BF3. I think that’s when Dice started to partner with Cubic Motion to handle their facial mo-cap. Cubic Motion’s 2016 Showreel:

Neither did Garrus. He didn’t dismantle anything. He did manage to not die in a year of combating three crime syndicates which is impressive. He was basically a dead man walking until Shepard shows up...
