Why? He had a hard role, and I feel like he nailed it. I wish he had been in the film up through its climax, as I felt like his character's exit was premature.

Y'all can keep hating LaBeouf. I'm solidly pro, and I'll enjoy my oddball performances in strange movies over here, thanks!

It is quite good.

I only consistently remember a cool stunt where Wesley Snipes swings or ziplines on a cable onto a moving train. Pretty good stuff.

Yeah, critics and audiences are almost unanimously of the direct opposite opinion, so I guess that would be why no one is making that critique.

He's only directed one original, and it made more than double its budget domestically, so yeah, it made money. If you extend that to things he produced, like Cloverfield, it also tripled its budget domestically. His reboots/sequels all make *more* money, but they also have huge budgets to recoup.

The whole movie I was just like "Where the fuck is this guy supposed to be from?" I don't think it was supposed to be Boston. I think it was the South by way of the Congo.

It has Woo's magical "every bullet striking a surface results in beautiful, cascading fireworks" that is also prominent in the hangar shootout in Face/Off. How much more Woo can you get?

Those models are so good. Holy hell.

A match cut is still a canny, stylish editing technique that needs to occur to a filmmaker, in live-action or animation. It can be even more meticulous in animation, though.

That's very, very excellent.

What information, in particular, are you referring to? His discursive drug and sex annotations?

Hmm. I watched Ginger Snaps for the first time, which is kind of a classic if you haven't seen it. Nice metaphorical werewolf movie using lycanthropy to show how sexual awakening in one of a pair of close sisters drives a wedge between them. Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Very fun, but also with a very late-90s/2000

Didn't go to see anything in the theaters, but watched The Loved Ones on Youtube, which was pretty entertaining. While I appreciated its brevity (a breezy 84 minutes!), it was at the cost of some strands of the story not really coming together in a satisfying way. I was expecting a bit more of a group effort to the

Yeah, Seven Psychopaths was a bit less satisfying for me, as it had a less identifiable emotional core than In Bruges, but it was just as fun and much wilder. I recommend it.

They gave My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a 10.

This is REALLY late and not of any value really, but as a perverse young lad who indulged the whims young boys are wont to have, I noticed that the scene with Don's threesome is markedly similar to the hotel threesome from Wild Things, down to framing, timing and even the acting. Much weirder film to rip off than 2001.
