I’d say that parents (or anyone really) should be warned about ANY investment “opportunity” solicited over the phone, not just gold or silver scams. Any large sums of money should be invested after serious consideration by the investor, not rushed by any salesperson, broker, etc.

We do the same. When we were married, we each had our own business so it was far easier to keep things separate. While we do have some shared accounts (and expenses), it was just easier to keep most accounts separate. We’ve done this for 20 years, and money has NEVER been an argument.

Just realize the cat is ALWAYS trying to kill you. Maybe just not actively at the moment, but it’s always plotting.

Maglites, especially the Solitare, really need some sort of sleeve or ejection method for swollen batteries. They’re a real pain if a battery swells, even a little. It’s a fatal flaw with them. Otherwise, they’re rock solid, IMHO.

Not sure the NATO alphabet is “useless” as those in the military, or in my case military school, pretty much rely in it.

Agreed. I had it turned on for all the computers I had at home, but frankly, it’s kind of clunky. It’s good most of the time, but when it does block something you want, it’s a bit of a pain as you have to select the notification then add the exception by following the path of the blocked item. While that seems

My body sees right through my web of lies!

Didn’t do Home Ec, but I did take a touch typing class in H.S.(This was the 80s, btw) And, like you, I was the only male in the class. The teacher actually asked me what I was doing in the class and when I responded that I wanted to type faster on my computer (TI-99/4A) for programming, she responded that she didn’t

It’s good that you get that APR in a checking account. My concern would be is if that account was either unavailable (I’ve seen banks/credit unions “lock” accounts for a variety of reasons) or if someone were to compromise the account and withdraw everything.

I assume screaming, “There’s a monster on the wing!” is not recommended.

I can understand that too. I think it would make a good article to discuss financial advisors. There are some things, such as estate trusts, where it would help, I believe. Many families have many issues when a family member dies and the inheritance being handled in a trust by an impartial third-party makes it much

At first, I was ready to be critical as it’s very counter-intuitive to spend money on something you could do yourself when trying to save money. (Especially as I’ve done the legwork to create budgets and track spending so I don’t have to pay someone else to do the work for me.)

White = Yah, yoo becha, eh?

Based on my wife’s experience with her Miata, I think there is a light on the Miata that is *only* visible in rear view mirrors that states, “Please cut in front of me!”

He just felt kinda flat.

While I can understand not getting too lost in pure numbers, the best way to actually have measurable goals is to have, well, goals that can be measured. Having vague goals is the sort of thing that gets people into financial trouble as it more easily allows rationalization of bad decisions.

Ideally with a Long John Silver’s paper pirate hat.

The explosion was strong enough to blow the letter O out of the word and P had to come in to quickly replace it!

Not as young as you think. My first paying job writing code was also in Fortran.
