I feel like there was no reason for the CR-Z to be a hybrid beyond the marketing that comes along with having something you could call “sporty.”

Honda CR-Z. If it had managed to be an actual successor to the original CRX... what a car that could have been.

So easy

If Alonso is on your Honda Jet...get off NOW!

Essentially, we’re going to be driving life-size RC cars.

I think that is his point, this couldn’t be standardized. The reason a model S is faster than any other EV is literally because it pipes more current from its batteries to the motor than other EVs. The speed of an electric motor is (much simplified) based on how much electricity it is using. A bigger motor can handle

Came here to make this comment. This is another big parallel to the PC world, where today what cooling system you’re going to use is one of the biggest choices you need to make when thinking about a custom PC build (liquid cooled, air cooled, how big, how many fans, how quiet or how high performance, etc. etc.)

Add cooling systems to that. I think that’s going to be pretty important and proprietary and will be a differentiator between high performance EVs and lower performance/economy ones. I feel this is being overlooked big time when we talk about how ubiquitous or modular a motor or battery pack will become.

You took the words out of my mouth. That’s why Tesla’s big technology showcase isn’t their cars - it’s their Gigafactories.

That’s doubtful. People said the same thing about ICEs. We “nailed down” the technology so to speak decades upon decades ago. There have been incremental improvements ever since, and those improvements have driven sales. If the companies outsource it that won’t really change much of anything either. All it will

Clearly that is the case now, but I tend to agree with Jason on this. At some point the battery technology will be table stakes with different options on the market at different price points to achieve a required performance or lifespan target.

If you think Tesla is making huge leaps in valuation...

Well said, so true.

History is full of men who created something great only to utterly ruin it by holding on too long.

Notice in the traffic pic all the cars lined up in the far left lane to turn left into the parking lots. You’d know that wasn’t in America because there would be just as many cars in the “still open” right lane trying to get ahead as far as they could before changing lanes at late as possible instead of just getting

If a dog is at the track, does that mean it is a lapdog?

Muslim extremists can’t read ISIS propaganda on their laptops anymore!

Problem solved

I think the benefit is that you can feel every bone crack through the seat as you mow down crowds of people exiting cars and coffee in your Mustang.

i love bucket seats...in my race car. i fail to see how replacing your factory seats that have airbags with a bucket seat is safer when it comes to daily driving. and if your seat isn’t fia certified, then ever worse.
