If you just turn up in your own car, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of driver briefing - there is a form you have to sign to say you’ve read all the rules, but I guess some people don’t. If you rent a car from one of the onsite car rental places, they give you a good briefing, although it did seem a bit

I always hear about this, but was in fact surprised at how much of it was unrestricted when I got there... (but the roadworks and traffic very quickly annoyed me so...)

Spotted the Ford shill. Seriously, if you treat your customers like crap, don’t expect them to be customers for very long. You can argue “legal right” all you want, but if a customer has a poor experience trying to give you money, you might find they all stop trying to give you money and soon it won’t be a problem

Should have sped up ;)

Yep, used to travel big distances non-stop in South Africa, and if you got tired, you just drive faster to avoid sleepiness.

Agreed - on my friend’s racecar the back brakes are tiny, and the pads last forever compared to the fronts which we’ve had to swap several times already.

I don’t think you put quite enough emphasis on checking mirrors!

I pulled over at one of the many rest stops and spoke to a German salesman who had stopped his A4 3.0 TDi for a smoke... he explained the signs and how to know when you’re on the Autobahn (actually my Nokia Maps was pretty good at this because the speed limit icon just vanishes).

Also, dude, even if you’re doing 240kph, if there’s nothing in the right lane, pull over!!! Keep right, pass left!

Had a rental Toyota Hybrid I drove from France up to the Nurburgring - took me a while to figure out which roads had no limit, but once I did I managed to get the car up to 180kph on a long downhill. The French hitch-hikers I picked up were not to keen on me taking photos of the speedo though and asked me to pull over

Flatmate has a PT Cruiser (his sanity is already in question) and was trying to change one of the bulbs. You have to remove a wheel and remove the inner mudguard trim to get to it.

How appropriate that the first car listed is a B5 S4 (I came here to talk about mine).

Agreed. Also, I believe that there is value in making use of economies of scale - I also think they’re missing the point. The most important component for both businesses is going to be batteries, and if they can bring together both teams to work together on them they will be more economical than working independently.

You can’t just climb in the ring with Ali ‘cos you think you can box.

Wow, America sure is different. When I was pricing loans for (2nd hand) a car here in NZ, the interest was 15-20%... vs. home loan rate of about 5%...

Having ridden bikes... Am I the only one who crapped himself at 6min 13 seconds seeing that car parked on the side lane that looked like it was going to pull into the road in front of him???

No fair putting the PT Cruiser up as a hint!! (Actually whilst it’s a car I would never buy, I have a friend who has one - it’s very practical with a large boot space and high roof meaning it’s almost as good as a van for loading with stuff (maybe not as long as some wagons, but the height makes up for it).

I think the problem with the Sports Almanac (sp?) book was that as soon as you come back with the book you’re on a different timeline to the original so those sports scores would not necessarily be the same as on the old timeline.

Wait, there’s a French Top Gear???
