I would imagine that the 10 speed transmission is making the most difference. Look at the drop in RPMs between gears on the 2017 at about 2:43 in the video. It stays at the very very top of the rev range. That is going to make a serious difference.

Good luck being able to spec one for that price... Look up any of the sheets for the cars for sale and you will see. I would argue though that the BEST option that could be ticked was the optional Prodrive LM option (aftermarket, but with a pseudo factory team). It was street legal in Britain.
