Except we do. We have seen the inside of these review boards change away from evidence based thinking to “believing victims” in the past several years. This blog has championed that.
Is Title XI like a super Title IX team? Also, a guilty finding from Title IX investigators at a university does not equate to due process. They aren’t held up to the same standards as a police investigation. In fact, sometimes these things go awry: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-m….
No. It really doesn’t. It’s a distraction and derailing of the article above.
Reminds me of my ex roommate who claimed she was raped at a party we threw. Don’t misunderstand, women do get raped at parties, but she was a liar and an idiot.
Dude, you can’t trust cat.
I have a lot of respect for the Emmit Till case, but I think it would be a better argument to use a more recent example, at least one from after the passing of the Civil Rights Act.
Their story never made sense. Racism is obviously bad in America but, a group of men attack a group of women in public while yelling racial slurs and EVERYONE just sits and watches and does nothing?
It’s true, we don’t know what was said but even if something terrible was said that never excuses assault. We can’t wait around for the perfect victim, they rarely exist. Bottom line they should not have lied about it, that hurts everyone. Does it say anywhere if any of the students had been drinking? I’ve had to tell…
Still, there’s debate over whether the video of the incident released tells the full story about what could’ve incited the women accused of assault.
Nothing someone says to you can justify assault. We actually have a legal term for this: Provocation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provocati…).
This is why people need to stop rushing to humiliate and trash people publicly and instead wait for actual information to surface before reacting to stuff like this.
And they'd go triple apeshit if someone said "maybe the victim did something to incite the attack"
I wish we didn’t give white people such an inflated sense of self importance.
Regardless of what anyone SAID, physical violence isn’t justified. Isn’t that what everyone is taught today starting in kindergarten?
To be fair, if some white students lied about being attacked by black students, you guys would go apeshit. I think the backlash has been more than fair considering.
Is the teaming doing anything that drastically wrong here? They haven’t been told why their teammate has been kicked off the squad and they are supporting him. Really not sure what they are supposed to do.
