Dear H8er. Get a Mac. You get the operating system for free. There is an office suite. Free. It just works. It does not have that stupid Metro interface. There is a load of free software for it. Just invest the money you otherwise burn on Office crap and the OS on quality hardware.

Be happy that those companies do not hire you. It is impossible that you can comply with their rules. Also, this behavior is a sign that those at the company are rude and inhospitable to their guests.

On my MBP: zero desktop icons. On my W7 workstation at work: zero desktop icons. I invariably work with full screen windows so I almost never see the desktop let alone use it to hit on icons with a mouse pointer.

Seems we're comparing different things. But I do have some drawbacks for you regarding OneNote. For one, it takes ages to start up. About two to four times as long as starting up Evernote. Second, in UI terms (and probably others too) it absolutely does not integrate at all. Don't get me started on that #$%^ icon bar.…

As a matter of fact I think that there also is a little Time Machine geeklet in there. It's a very small circle in white. Changed that to a greenish color recently.

Yes OneNote. It has at least a couple of fatal flaws. It's integrated with other products I don't want to use. It's Windows only which I don't want to use. It does not have an iPhone or Android app which I can use when on the road. Consequently, the user community is a lot smaller if existent at all.

Really. Actually, I'm just shaking my head at so much unfounded anxiety and utter stupidity. Do you really really think you will stay healthier this way? In a city like New York? Yeah. Right.
