Considering that every episode that Chibnall has written for Who has been fucking awful so far, this was indeed surprisingly good. That Whittaker was great is less surprising, but it’s still impressive how quickly and comfortably she stepped into the role.

That said, here are some more pessimistic stray observations:

I, uh... might reconsider my position.

Time to tweak my pitch for the next Mad Max film. (To include Brolin, Bacon, and Gaga, of course.)

Fair enough, but I’d like to know what I did to deserve the first Sin City film...

Hardy is in Inception with Joseph Gordon Levitt, JGL is in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For with Lady Gaga.

I really must stress that I cheated for this and looked up what other films Gaga’s been in: I have not, repeat, have not, watched Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

You must really hate Jennifer Garner.

You might be right. The Punisher took way too long to reach the vigilante justice that we all want from a Punisher series, and even when it finally arrived it was nowhere near as good as some of his scenes in DD2. The Punisher didn’t have Elektra in it, though, which probably places it about DD2 for me.

Nope, not at all. LC1 starts out really great and then gets fucking terrible when they replace an Oscar-winning actor with a character who – like the equally terrible Elektra – seems to have been developed by script writers whose concept of the character consists entirely of ‘speaks in weird vocal patterns because

Well yeah, the pretty much any scene that the Punisher was in was amazing. The prison corridor fight was a particular highlight, but tbh even the scenes of him sitting grumpily in a courtroom were enjoyable. I attribute that partly to Bernthal’s performance, and partly to how fucking terrible Elektra was (worse than

Cool, thanks! I’d sworn off Marvel Netflix after the disappointment of JJ2 (and Defenders... and Iron Fist...) but the AV review of IF2 has made me reconsider that, so I’ll give LC2 a shot too.

At least the Punisher elevated the bits that he was in. DD2 was still better than JJ2, LC1, IF1 and The Defenders as a result.

This news makes me want to watch LC2 more than anything else that I’ve heard about it so far. How does it compare to LC1's ‘holy shit this is amazing oh no wait no’ narrative trajectory?

West directed the video, in which he and Lil Pump dress like Stop Making Sense extras and trail after Givens, who fires off a sex-positive riff between Ye’s verses.

I now await a ‘steamed hams’ take on this trailer.

She needs to get a lawyer who understands how capital letters work.

Yeah, I’ve made the same mistake on previous entries :) It’s at once somewhat chastening to find that your bleeding edge alternative cred is a fantasy, but also really nice to find that, e.g. None Shall Pass by Aesop Rock reached #30.

American Nervosa by Botch came out in 1998, didn’t chart, and every song on it is better than every song on this list.

If I’ve understood them (which I’m not sure I have either), neither counts because This is Hardcore reached #114 and XO reached #104

It’s great – especially ‘The Scientists’ – but apparently too great for inclusion in this feature

Well, the popular kids probably deserved it.
