My issue is more than it became “pure sci fi”, rather than the awesome mix of fiction and actual science and anthropology it started off as. I think some of that was unavoidably lost when it joined Gawker but the merge with Gizmodo always felt like a bad step
I’m happy that Charlie Jane’s novel career is taking off, but her reviews were always my favorite part of io9.

This is the correct take. RA was what got me into the genre before I fell in love with Total Annihilation. It was great fun playing over dialup with neighbors across the street.
I worry starting this conversation means we need to set up a basis for which is better, gameplay or video. There were some terrible later games but the videos with Ric Flair, Tim Curry, etc. were awesome.
