I could not disagree more that Lucy Sparrow’s bodega is “art”. To me, it is the pinnacle of white privilege masquerading as pseudo-socially aware statement. Bodega owners being priced out of their livelihood by gentrification, replaced by a white chick who has felted imitation of food and goods for “nostalgia” and…
I feel so shitty saying this, but everyone’s children are 100% going to die. And very few people get to choose the circumstances. Charlie could be “saved” by this treatment, and die two weeks later of something else. That’s the nature of life. It’s a terminal condition.
But because this isn’t a formal trial, the parents are under no obligation to submit Charlie or his remains for examination for efficacy of the treatment. So, while it’s a nice idea that this helps other children with this ultra-rare condition, there is no evidence that this will be the case.
gross.
Any piece of word “art” burned into old pallet wood that commands me to do something...Gather, Laugh, Drink, Love...immediate sign I will hate the person who purchased it.
Recently moved furniture off of a white shag rug in my bedroom. Holy. Hell. Disgusting. In a room that never sees shoes! HOW?
Mostly I was just calling out the weird thing society does where it lumps the “care-taking” of grown ass adult men and fathers into the same bin as kids.
That is interesting, as I am a super big wine drinker, but primarily drink European wines (like, $10-12 bottles, I ain’t breaking the bank). West coast wines feel like a syrupy punch in the face when you are used to drinking medium-bodied spanish and french wines. I also wonder if the cheaper wines tend to be higher…
Is your husband unable to contribute like an equal partner? Because damn. I would roll over and die if someone lumped me into “feeding” with children.
Ahh, you got me! I totally must be an alcoholic since I disagree with you!
Sources about a small number of people drinking the majority of the wine? Also, the majority of people live in urban centers (80% of American are located in Urban Centers according to the US Census Bureau), so this argument still doesn’t hold. Using crude math and not accounting for minors, France has about 1/5 the…
I mean....the statistics on per capita wine consumption simply do not bear out what you are saying. France, according to the Wine Institute, is 5th in per capita consumption of wine, where as the US is 55th. So...how’s that math work out again?
Um. Have you ever been to Munich during Oktoberfest? Spain or Portugal? In terms of wine consumption, according to this Wine Institute Map the United States ranks 55th per capita in wine consumption...not even close to many European countries. What you are seeing in our society is NOT a normalization of drinking,…
Oh, totally. And I am definitely getting some projection vibes with the concern trolling. Some people have struggled with addiction and dependency, and so everyone drinking has a potential problem. The only safe drink is a very small amount, occasionally, in the company of other adults, with a meal. Everything…
Not sure of your gender based on your user name, but its one drink a day for women, and two drinks a day for men is considered moderate drinking. Of course, a “drink” is based on serving size, which is something people should know and be aware of (5oz of wine is a serving, FYI). The CDC has some great info, but…
Do you mean servings, or glasses? Because the two are unrelated.
That certainly wasn’t my experience in several parts of Europe, where a glass of wine every day seemed pretty typical, often at lunch. But it is hard to judge the daily life of europeans, as I didn’t live there. And, I don’t disagree with you re:the “mommy juice” BS, which is just a small way for women to buck the…
You aren’t being judgmental, but you are concern-trolling like a boss. Drinking within the recommended daily limits (which would be a glass of wine every single damn day for a woman) is the slippery slope to addiction? You will “pay the price”? Never, ever, travel to Europe. The wine industry has tricked the shit…
I think that holds for M.D.s, too. If I go to a barbecue, and some dickhead physician introduces themselves as Dr. Dickhead, I am walking away. I have a PhD, and even people in academia use “Dr.” very rarely. When introducing a colleague in a formal setting almost exclusively...why would you introduce yourself as…
