More people should do this, there is nothing like having a car that’s paid for. There are usually workarounds when things are too cost prohibitive to fix. Used /rebuilt parts, or trying to engineer a fix around the broken part like mechanics have done here, as well as in Cuba and in the Outback of Australia.
