Their selection is far, far too limited for a full priced streaming option, even if their content is better than average. Plus, unlike every other streamer, they offer (virtually) no third-party content.

It’s honestly worth that price. They have more varied and high quality scripted shows than HBO Max do at this point.

The whole point of this is to drive subscribers to their ad based tier. They make more money off ad revenue than all of the top tier subscribers combined, oh and it is continually increasing income.

It’s wild how many people seem to think Max is at the top of streaming services. Originally before the Discovery merger I would have said yeah, but I found myself watching it less and less, especially as they axe content and flood the library with reality shows.

People keep flexing this on streaming service comment sections, but 99% of the world isn’t going to buy like a 100TB NAS and configure a pseudo-enterprise level storage network to run a Plex server at home. Maybe even 99.9%.
