I always thought pro-life *sounded* better than pro-choice. I mean, who doesn’t love life?

“I shouldn’t need to know exactly who did what and when in the first season of Loki to understand the upcoming second season.”
I really wanted to type something snarky or insulting in reply to this, but I made myself wait until I’d read everything you had to write about it. Now that I’ve done that, I realize that the…
Guys.. Guys.. It’s not Censorship when Elon does it since he is rich and smart. See, if you’re poor, and dumb like us then its actually a service hes doing for us. Hes literally saving us from ourselves, cant you see that? He’s saved Ukraine from themselves, and now hes going to make sure that we are thinking the…
There are alternatives, although to be fair many people consider them inferior for reasons. To someone like me who has an account but never used it, it sounds more like an addiction.
This is a truly hilarious comment if anyone wants to look up the top-grossing movies of 2023 (so far).
Just don’t watch it if it’s not for you. I can’t stand soap operas, but I have no problem with them existing. I hate basketball, but I don’t care that other people like it.
And you absolutely do not have to read the books to watch Foundation.
I mean...so? You were watching the 5th film in a series of films where the story builds on itself much like the books. Why would they make any effort to make them “freestanding” when the books weren’t that way and there was no need to and who the hell just jumps into the fifth one in a series and then complains that…
So you jumped into a random part of a franchise not having seen the other installments and were shocked you were confused?
How amazingly reductive of other people’s human experiences that was. “If you are a comics fan, you are an awful person and never get laid”.
The characters represented have been a part of pop culture for 80 plus years. Literally Islands of Adventure has been Marvel themed for 25 years at Universal and was a huge attraction (still is) since before 2000. This is certainly a hot take.
Does the subheader actually say that you shouldn’t have to know what happened in season one of loki to get what’s happening in season 2?
I was a Marvel fan in the late 80s/early 90s, and I remember when they redid virtually all of their comics to make them much grittier. Now the MCU is a much more colorful and jokey place, but back then all the movies had ultraviolent main characters with black outfits.
This really has never been true. The MCU rewards you if you’ve seen it all and really rewards you if you’ve seen it multiple times.
Well they’ve been around for over 80 years. So I think they might have “staying power”.
counterpoint, you SHOULD know what happened in the first season if you want to follow the second season
Loving it, almost as good as Rogue one. Best star wars movie
What I’m sensitive to is the sad, lowest common denominator, snarky, sneering, elitest bullshit that people like RLM made the mainstream standard for genre criticism. None if this actually qualifies as criticism. It’s a bunch of piss-pants stunted atavists stamping their feet.
Personally, I think throwing in an entire, off-screen “Ahsoka trained Sabine until they had a falling out” was also a really odd choice. You were already going to have a chunk of the viewership that hadn’t watched TCW or Rebels, so I guess they decided to double down and give superfans something to not know about also?
What is it that happened to nerd culture that left everyone obsessed with the idea that every aspect of every story must be fully accessible to every single human who may decide to watch it, and anything that builds off of anything pre-established somewhere else is a complete failure as a creative work and is going to…
