Wouldn't they need to have aged to that age to appear that way as deathless zombie pirates? Or does this delightful fantasy of being an immortal undead dude also somehow involve still slowly aging as you would?

Disney keeps hiring these old dudes and upping the age average of this weird ass franchise with every movie even though most pirates (of the Caribbean) who didn't turn privateer (and eventually become governors of islands) and insisted on pirating didn't really manage to keep their heads on their shoulders or necks…

Absolutely. I think the biggest moment that sort of gets dulled because of prior knowledge is the chestburster scene. The Ash scenes still manage to give me that punch in the stomach though for sure.

I probably should've said story beats instead of the big twist because, yeah, there isn't really a big one. I think we mostly agree; Alien is a tense, wonderfully oppressive, horrifying experience. I just also think knowing about those story beats somewhat takes away the edge of those moments even though they still…

Yeah, TV probably also takes away from the total impact. My point is, though, that it probably would've shaken me a lot more had I not already seen a ton of Alien movies or spin offs and video games and known what it was or what things in it would be like. I mean I wish I could've gone into it fully blind.

Well I don't know about a Shanghai Moon, but I did see a China Moon 20 years ago that starred Madeleine Stowe who looked pretty spectacular in a number of dresses in that movie. COINCIDENCE????
