The Volt was great for electric range, but the fuel economy after the charge was depleted (37 mpg combined) is not great compared to Prius Plug-In (50 mpg) or Prius Prime (52-54 mpg). I think some sacrifices were made in GM’s design when they went with a generator + electric series layout instead of a power-split or…
Wait until you hear about the subsidies the oil and gas companies get. Oh boy is it a doozy.
It’s shocking to hear cars with such low miles (58k and 38k) are being driven to the ground. If you have access to a garage and charging to recommend anything but an EV is just bad advice.
To state that it beats up on Porsches and MGs would require citations of race wins, not simply that it has more power.
I have not missed the point. If you have a reasonable understanding of physics and unit conversions you can do the math to find out how many kilojoules of energy it takes to propel any vehicle a given distance (I’ll say mile, because I’m an American). The fact is that it takes considerably less energy for even the…
So many of them are just so inefficient.
U-Turn Guy: yeah, probably a bit of an overreaction by the officer to issue a ticket
A transmission (any transmission) acts as a torque multiplier, it’s why there have been EVs with integrated 2 and 3 speed transmissions. Tesla got around it by going with very high voltage (not a bad thing) and a very wide range motor.
Add to that Nissan from 2010-2024 has used CHAdeMO, which are rare now and will become hen’s teeth in the next decade.

I’m only 41, but I know history.
Can we at least spell Nader correctly?
The ballooning car, truck and SUV sizes I completely buy, what was a full size SUV 25 years ago turned into a mid-size 15 years ago which is now a compact today. Absurd.
#2 You want an EV swapped Honda Beat. I, for one, appreciate your taste.
If the vehicle is unpredictable, yes, I agree with your statement. However, I have owned a VW ID.4 with Travel Assist (active lane centering and radar CC) for a year and a half and find it quite relaxing to focus on the traffic around since the car does amazingly well at being accurate and predictable within the lane…
I’m not normally one to defend cops, but in this case it seems like Scottie felt entitled to driving outside the limits of the road to get around emergency responders at the site of a FATAL ACCIDENT. Even if I decide to try something like that, if there is any indication that a paramedic, fire, search and rescue or…
No amount of athletic prowess excuses breaking laws and putting anyone in danger of very serious injury for your convenience.
