Agreed. I was hoping for more details on the 800v architecture and how that impacts overall efficiency, or how wide tires impact rolling resistance. The high weight should only have a significant impact on city. Highway should be more impacted by rolling resistance, Cd, frontal area and drivetrain losses (motor

A 996 911 at this price is not worth buying. Any cars worth the money start at $20k for a stick, and the Tiptronic transmission is not worth it (the PDK was not launched until 2009 with the 997.2 and 987.2).

You can’t comp this to any other 1999 Boxster. The real comp is a 2000-2003 Boxster S. Considering the $1k (each) intake, exhaust and coilovers this thing is a bargain (as long as it is in good condition) and the dual row IMS is just the cherry on top. I would buy it and swap the wheels to 996 Turbo twist or 996.1

As I noted at the outset, these early C4s are, much like the 991 edition of Porsche’s 911, the redheaded stepchild of the model line.

If you go to the IIHS website you’ll see that auto on/off factors into the rating as well.

Much shorter than I expected, but I think there are a few things we need to consider when comparing the Model S to the Taycan:

And by “driving around in a tank carelessly” you mean occupying a Cybertruck in ‘autopilot’ while watching Dude Perfect YouTube videos, bro.

I went CP. The wheels are one of my least favorite (the RS Spyder, Sport Classic, Macan SportDesign and 911 Turbo Design are all much better looking). Also, while 62k on a 2015 model for a Crosstrek, CR-V or Rav4 may be low, for a Porsche that is higher mileage. Low-to-mid 30s would have gotten a NP from me.

That’s worth the trip right there.

I miss they days when everyone was entitled to their opinion, but that facts were facts.  Now everyone is entitled to their own reality.

EV’s are debatable on environment benefit

I watch his videos just to hear him say “hakkapeliitta”.

same car, same tires (2005 XT), in SW Ohio

No they are not.  They are all season tires that are rated for severe winter conditions.  Not all 3PMSF tires are dedicated winter.

Personal experience, the Cross Climate+ have been by far the best all season tires I have ever experienced, full stop. The Blizzak WS80 tires on my wife’s Outback XT (2005) are certainly superior, but the “all weather” tires have closed the gap enough to say I’m not going to hassle with a second set of wheels for my

It is purple in the same way the Reasonably Priced Vauxhall Astra on Top Gear was ‘brown’.

I think you miss remember the size of vehicles. Yes, old Cadillacs, trucks, and wagons (read: Ford Country Squire, Buick Estate) were wide and long. But today’s SUV are wider and much taller with worse blind spots. Vehicle size inflation is significant.

Now I am considering taking a vacation day tomorrow and sitting at home to watch every possible angle of this series of events.  I could chalk it up as a mental health day, and would be better for it.

Wow, so much intriguing information in there. I’d like to read your memoir (or blog at least).
