I have a Master’s degree in Art History - that doesn’t automatically mean I have the skill set to curate a show and even if I did, the material I would be familiar with would likely be relatively small unless I was actively working in the field. Curating is a highly specialized field, tbh.

That being followed by saying that those types of games have too much competition just goes to show he doesn’t have a clue. Like, you want them to pitch you things that you don’t want to support?

If he had said: “I have a narrow focus in my interests, and the company I run reflects those interests. I really don’t know what to make of pitches that don’t involve war or robots, so I largely steer clear of them and stick to my wheelhouse”, then he would have at least sounded honest and credible.

“The problem with women designers is they don’t pitch classically man-oriented games like war and fighting” is such an incredibly stupid argument to make. It’s not even “oops I misphrased”, there’s no charitable way to read this.

Naturally it’s the females’ problem for not being able to take harsh criticism, and not the critic’s problem for not being able to give constructive criticism without being a dick about it.

I’ve read several articles and essays by Brooke in various magazines over the years, and was always impressed by her intelligence and worldliness, balanced by a relatable, down-to-earth, grounded quality. I find her very likable. Looking forward to the Hulu doc.

Being the exact same age as Brooke Shields and watching how the media treated her was my norm. It set my expectations for how a young woman was treated for a very long time and made me put up with way too much in my younger days.
