Yeah, this is one of those where sure, on the one hand, the criticism is accurate, and on the other hand, it also applies to almost every historical drama ever made.

I am loathe to defend someone for using the word “edutainment”, but the fact is movies have been distorting and exaggerating history since the birth of the medium. Buzzwords aside, I think Davis and Tennon seem pretty knowledgable about the real story and aware of the limits of of big budget studio filmmaking. The

The Spartacus one is pretty famous among LGBTQ film buffs because of Vito Russo’s brilliant book The Celluloid Closet: Homosexuality in Movies which was turned into an (equally brilliant) documentary by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. That scene is discussed in-depth in the book and documentary.

And honestly, if

There’s a difference between depriving someone of the ability to feed and shelter themselves vs. not wanting to see someone enjoy the rarefied status that comes with being a movie star. Not many people are saying Armie Hammer should die on the streets.

While I find the celebrity exposé genre prurient and don't enjoy it myself there's an argument to be made that with our imperfect justice system publicizing the crimes of the rich and famous is often the only way to ensure they receive any punishment for them, even if only in the court of public opinion.

Except in this situation you make a living writing movie reviews and in fact patently care about it. Try to keep up.

It appears that we have Karens in the comment section as well.

Neither was Stenberg, but Wilson Karened the hell out of the situation.

Stenberg is not crying victim here.

She could be dead fucking serious and it wouldn’t change how ridiculous Wilson’s reaction was.

Regardless of the original review or Stenberg’s reaction to it, Wilson taking the private conversation public while simultaneously complaining about how Stenberg’s public persona gives her power is absolutely absurd. It’s one of those cases where the reaction overshadows the initial infraction.

The only person with visible cleavage (admittedly from the pictures I have seen) is Amandla. And as a someone with big boobs, it is very easy to show cleavage. It’s kind of shitty to exist as someone with a bigger chest and then be criticized as your movie being an advertisement for cleavage. It’s the same thing women

Lesbian or not, it’s clear the author of the review is using her white womanhood to try and become the victim when messaged by a black actress she wrote a review on.

I audibly guffawed at that line from her. She sounds like a clown.

“I’m posting it because I don’t want this person who has more social power than me to think that it’s fucking okay to do something like this.”

Fuck me but there’s a lot of bitching about a prestige soap opera that uses ALT HISTORY SPACE RACE as its backdrop. The fucking child death in season 1 didn’t clue you in on what we were doing here?

And helium-3 and nuclear fusion producing a recession? How the hell does free, unlimited energy produce a recession?

So let me get this straight - North Koreans launched an astronaut on a one-way trip, and he somehow survived on the surface of Mars for months? Was he on that probe Danielle and Kuznetzov found? Did the North Koreans invent cryosleep and the astronaut woke up a couple of days prior to being found?

Thank you for the actual review, opposed to the summary above.

You want this man to die BEFORE he can see everything he’s worked for humiliatingly stripped from him and forced to face the consequences of a life built on lies and hatred? Where’s your humanity?
