Based on the original NY Times article, many (most) of the cars he finds with intentionally altered license plates are cop cars/city vehicles. So, there’s a reason “the system” is not addressing this.

“How dare you stop me from breaking the law! I will murder you!”

I still think traffic cameras should be illegal so obscure your plate all you want.

Hope he gets what snitches deserve. Reminder, if you see someone doing something illegal and nobody is actively being hurt; no you didn’t.

If you’re on a public road, you’re subject to public scrutiny. Just because you think it’s OK that you commit a crime doesn’t mean you’re going to get away with it.

It’s actually the “no snitching” that’s causing this. Many municipal employees, firefighters, cops etc. doing this, so by non-enforcement of this they are basically looking out for their own.

The NYPD can’t be bothered because it’s cops and cop family pulling this shit.

“Let the system deal with them”

The commenters seem to be under the mistaken impression that this guy cares about his own safety. He’s a former city reporter in New York. Call it a birth defect or a superpower, but those people were born with zero fucks. My heroes.

Apparently the courts frown on vigilantism more than the crime itself

This is the system. Half of these cars belong to cops or cop adjacent peoples. The other half belong to more or less serious criminals. The third half belongs to Contractors. So in either of these cases, he is trying to expose the shady activities of people who consider themselves fully above or outside the law.

“What snitches deserve”?

Let the system deal with them.

Real criminals don’t do ticky tack shit like take their license plates. These people are just shitbags trying to get away with flouting traffic rules. Fuck them, he’s right. If you are so bad at driving that you have to edit your plate to keep from paying fines, fuck you and stop driving.

For all those decrying him as “vigilante”, a decent percentage of what he’s turning up sure seem to be municipal employees. Does not seem like “the system” is doing to well at dealing with them. As to no one being hurt. Right. Toll and traffic ticket avoidance hurts no one. Except those that do pay.

Fuck that. If I see a hit and run I am absolutely calling the cops.

A lot of tesla stans on here questioning whether FSD was engaged at the time. You can all fuck off

Wow, we already have three top-level comments defending the malfunctioning Tesla and blaming the other cars on the road.

The point of age-restriction was always just a ploy to get you to insert payment information and/or personal identification documents into their system.

Alternative hot take: If any single driver caused as many accidents as Tesla’s autopilot/NOA/FSD has, they would be uninsurable and would have had their license revoked.
