Maybe the solution is to have bigger vehicles that can carry more people in one go through the tunnel. If it’s really high volume, maybe link the larger vehicles together in a chain so that they all travel at once all at the same speed.

Even among early adopters, there’s going to be a portion that wants something that at least pretends to be practical. 

I have, many times while passing a truck, thought to myself, “Huh. Wonder what that’s about.” But never for longer than it takes to think that thought... which i’d like to think is less than 10 seconds...

I am a fan of preservation and restoration be it cars or buildings. Unfortunately I do believe that there is a point of no return.
