I was specifically referring to the most recent landmark, which was Hazelwood, and expanded on Tinker. HS first amendment rights are a mess.
Yeah, I knew Tinker was earlier (actually met her once). It's amazing how much constraints high schools can put on student FA rights. Some understandable, most not so much.
This would have been mid-80s. Might have been in a garage, a parental hand-me-down. He eventually traded it for a new(er) car when he got an FT job.
As I have to everyone (but one jackass), I apologize profusely for the honest mistake. I typed quick without using the google and hit post. I guarantee I won't make that mistake again.
Nope. That's part of it, but school districts have used it to prohibit a lot of other speech.
You know, I've politely apologized and starred every other person who has responded to my honest mistake, even explaining my confusion.
You'd be amazed at what schools have used Hazelwood to get away with. you might check the Student Press Law Center if you're interested (http://www.splc.org/search/?o=date…) to see some examples. OTOH, this might make a good test case to scale back Hazelwood, but with the current makeup of the court, I'm not…
Interestingly, he originally bought the car in Chicago, long before moving to Texas.
Sorry, honest mistake. I definitely meant no offense, and am confused by those every time I come across them. :) I will definitely remember next time. Apologies to both countries and their citizens.
haha, that's hilarious.
Thanks for the correction! I definitely meant no offense, and am confused by those every time I come across them. :) I will definitely remember next time. Apologies to both countries and their citizens.

Ice cold.
Actually, that's not so much true in High School, thanks to, IIRC, the Hazelwood Supreme Court Decision.
See my other replies in this conversation. I apologize profusely to both countries for the mix-up. Please don't make this a thing. :)
I explained the Dutch mix-up in a reply to another poster, if that's what you're referring to. I don't mention the northern European countries enough in conversation to keep it at top of mind (I'm in BFE Midwest USA, and I'm relatively versed on world geography, but that one always trips me up).

Also, I cannot for the life of me understand why I can be in the black comments on Jalopnik, yet in the grey on a Jalopnik subblog for an article that's posted on the front page of Jalopnik.
Sees price, sees country of origin, you mean? I assume it's in Denmark (they're the Dutch, right?), which would mean shipping it to the U.S.
