The problem isn’t that devs think 30 FPS is fine and the hardcore gamers demand 60 fps or GTFO. That’s (rarely) the issue in the PC scene.

The point stands that 30fps IS objectively inferior to 60fps. You can argue that it’s minimal or not important, but you cannot argue that lower framerate is not patently worse.

I keep hearing that but watching his videos at that time, they don’t seem to indicate that. In fact I remember he wrote something early on during GG that said he didn’t want to get involved.

He has not declared himself to be “anti-gamergate” and for many within that group, that is the equivalent of him decaring himself to be “pro-gamergate”. Because to these people, “if you’re not with us, you’re against us”.

It is inferior technically speaking. Just because you prefer it doesn’t mean it’s superior. What advantage does 30 fps have over 60fps? None as far as I can see other then prettier games on consoles (where most are dipping into sub 30fps this year).

No idea why it’s considered controversial, some people care about it, for some of those it’s even a deal breaker, those people should be allowed to see how the game performs at a glance. It should be a basic Steam feature.

Well that’s you. I personally want my gpu to be pushing out as many frames as my hardware will allow. I didn’t buy that 980ti and 5820k for the fuck of it.

I’m surprised with the opposition to the Framerate police. More information is always a good thing and what they do allows people to whom it matters (which is of course not everyone. Some people are still perfectly happy with their 15” CRT TVs too) to easily see what kind of performance they can expect from the games…
