So your beef is with "Doctor Sleep" retroactively making "The Shining" about alcoholism when King himself said it was about alcoholism long before "Sleep" came out?

The college section in "Hearts In Atlantis" - the last couple paragraphs of that story always make me tear up.
As I understand, wasn't "The Shining" ALWAYS about alcoholism? I seem to remember reading in his autobiography that he realized he was an alcoholic after he wrote the novel (the main character was basically himself - an alcoholic ex-schoolteacher/writer with young kids and a temper problem), and what made him decide…
I always have trouble pimping this show to friends, because the tone isn't what you'd expect. Hannibal's very much NOT a psycho slasher… I eventually ended up using the term "homicidal adventurer" (from a - ugh - Dean Koontz book)…
generally, "beat" is a little more laid-back than "fear of flying" (which i think is why they choose it for the single, same as with "freedom fighter" on "lushlife").
"beat" is one of my favorite records, but i'm actually super-surprised to see these guys pimped on here - they were part of shoegaze's "deep bench," for sure. i was surprised to see o'neal as the writer, too - i kinda figured it'd be heller, since his band the blue ontario played a similar style of music. kudos!
Like the hooks and the sound, but generally too twee. This is still disappointing, though… I really wanted to like their last album, and kinda hoped this one would push it over the top for me.
Chewie don't surf!
I admit it's probably a knee-jerk reaction, but:
I dunno, my first thought when I heard about the synth thing was "Wye Oak without guitars? No thanks!" And then I listened to it, and my reaction was exactly the same.
Margaery's an interesting one… For all her incredibly obvious calculation, she doesn't seem like she'd actually be a bad ruler. Unlike a lot of the folks currently ruling, she seems to understand that championing (or at least placating) the little people is the key to longevity of power.
Love the baby clown. Or, wait, not a baby clown, a clown baby - it's like a baby - it's like a clown that is a baby.
Sounds like you're a guy with a good attitude towards menstruation!
Give it a few years. :)
Or the "It's Always Sunny" McPoyle wedding episode, where Liam couldn't recognize Ryan until he took the hilariously obvious fake mustache off…
This exchange sounds like it came from a "Comedy Bang! Bang!" TV episode.
Maybe he feels get a pass because he did "Dave Chappelle's Block Party?"
part of what i think makes travis so unusual and memorable is the compassion in his lyrics; it's not something you think about often, but compassion is, for some reason, not a perspective you see often.
I always loved this song… anyone else hear a slight Sea and Cake vibe here?
IIRC, wasn't the Colt pretty much invented/kept in use because it was the only thing that could knock them down?
