Definitely a fan of the Saints.  "In Ribbons" is a great dream pop album ("Throwing Back the Apple" is worth the album alone) - it's a shame that they jettisoned some of the oddball weirdness of their first album to get there.  And the less said of "Slow Buildings," the better.

They're kinda shoegazey, but they keep forgetting to write songs!  Atmosphere ain't enough.

I have every album by these guys, which doesn't make any sense because I can't seem to get into them.  I feel like there are no songs, just endless aping of "Disintegration"-esque gloominess.  I want to like them, but… meh.  Maybe I haven't given 'em a fair shake, tho - it's pretty easy to do when every new shoegaze

Low is slowcore.  They're too minimal (not enough layering or guitars) to be considered shoegazey.

Oh yeah - another recent band that's tapping into that MBV vibe is NZ's The Golden Awesome.  Terrible name, but a really great band.  They managed to take the traditional shoegaze sound but marry it to their own melodic sense and songwriting abilities.  Check 'em out here: http://thegoldenawesomenz.b…

None that I know of off the top of my head.  Most of the stuff re: the recording process is stuff he's mentioned before in interviews (that shit sticks in my head, for some reason - hey, some people remember faces or phone numbers).  A lot of the more gear-y type stuff - what guitars he used, what rack mounts he had,

*That said, check out the Fuji Rock version of "To Here Knows When" (http://www.youtube.com/watc….  It's probably the best they've sounded live (or at least the closest to the album they've sounded live).

Glad to see some shoegaze love here.  This has been one of my favorite styles of music since my brother gave me "Loveless" at a relatively young age and it blew my mind.

Definitely more on the impressionistic dreampop/indie pop end of things (but still super-jangly), whereas Beach Fossils has more of a traditional indie pop/indie rock sound (Built to Spill, etc). I like it, but if you've heard a lot of this stuff, you'll probably just think it's okay.

Surprised nobody mentioned it in the review, but Nathan Fillion is subtly brilliant during the ball scenes where he's provoking Atherton) - the way he acts unsophisticated, but still cleverly manages to shame Atherton into letting Inara dance with him [Mal] by insulting him directly, but in such a way that it plays
